This 2009 movie, Avatar gets a new logo, replacing their old Papyrus with something “less” Papyrus.
Despite being the highest grossing film of all time and other wholesome accomplishments, Avatar features an awful logo. Yup, as you might have known, this movie by James Cameron has a logo with second most-hated font, Papyrus in it. Fortunately, Avatar finally gets a new one (see above) that doesn’t include Papyrus in its upcoming sequel.
First revealed on the official Avatar Twitter page, the logo now looks a little different. Some would say the logo update doesn’t look really good after all. The typeface comes bolder and the logo puts away Cameron’s name.
This visual change appears to be the effect of Saturday Night Live famous parody video; at least that’s what nearly 3,000 of Redditors believe. In the three minute video, Gosling plays as an overly obsessed graphic designer who can’t get rid of Avatar’s poor choice of font. Gosling even sees a therapist for his angst “he just highlighted Avatar, clicked the dropdown menu and he randomly selected Papyrus, like a thoughtless child, just wandering by a garden, yanking leaves along the way!”

Sadly for Gosling and other font nerds out there, we still have a long way before we officially see the new look of the logo. The sequel sets to hit theaters in 2020.
